Moogfest 2012 – Part One (Festival Preview)

Gallery Moogfest 2012 – Part One (Festival Preview)

There was some discussion about the changes made to this year’s event (now only two days), and about the strength of the lineup as opposed to years past. The past two years have certainly appealed to the more commercial listener, but the 2012 bill definitely doesn’t lag. Surely, it’s more niche, but once you actually take the time to listen to the diverse, eclectic group of artists in Asheville (Oct 26-27), you’ll realize that one thing remains the same: the caliber of artists is top-notch.

For this celebration of the innovative spirit of Bob Moog, the concerts are but one facet of what makes this festival so special. Not only is the cultivated lineup somewhat atypical for the Southeast, but Moogfest is a place to discover and participate in a Moog interactive sound lab, alternative art exhibit (at a discounted price), and gives you the chance to catch local talent showcasing their chops at the Emerald Lounge (free to ticket holders), in historic downtown Asheville.

Did I mention that Moogerfoogers and Asheville locals don’t take Halloween lightly? Yeah, bring a costume…or two. Don’t be shocked if you happen to see a human chia pet, an army of robots, or a few clowns on stilts. I will guarantee though, that if you don’t wear a costume….you’ll feel like a total dimbus.

So with that said…we begin our Moogfest series to prepare you before making your way to Asheville.
