Did anyone else bangarang the hell out of their skull at Skrillex…or see Pretty Lights just one too many times? You need something else to rejuvenate your entertainment-seeking neurons this Halloween weekend. Perhaps something with a little more flavor, a little more niche. But let’s get real, Halloween should be about shaking your ass, atleast the decorated ass of your temporary alter-ego. And ladies and gentleman, I know just the place for you: North Carolina’s most progressive hippie mountain village—Asheville.

Moogfest—the weekend music festival honoring the vision of Bob Moog, featuring the cream of the crop of electronic-inspired music—is an electrofreak’s wet dream. I can hear the production techie-nerds circuit-bending their o-faces already.

Truthfully, I’m a little disappointed that I’ll be missing the Skrillython happening the same weekend in Nashville, as it marks a step in the right direction, perhaps the beginning of a new age for our city (one that’s a bit sluggish to catch on to the rest of the world’s devout electrofever). But there’s a reason this will be my third time returning to Moogfest. Hi, my name is_____…and I’m a Moogaholic.

For the past two years, Moogfest has hosted a repertoire of modern music’s most sought after treasures, with names like Moby, Massive Attack, Amon Tobin, The Flaming Lips and STS9—this year is no different.
